When Leaders Disenchant What happens when we expect something from someone and we get disappointed or worse—we get disenchanted and our hopes and dreams begin to fade. |
February 14 Revs. Melora and Shana Lynngood, and Rev. Marian Stewart |
How to Want What You Have Whatever we have, we can always want something more, something better. Left unchecked, this tendency can be exhausting & dispiriting. This sermon, based on the book of the same title, will give us insight into how to stop that cycle—“how to want what we have.” Revs. Shana and Melora Lynngood will co-lead worship, with Rev. Melora preaching the sermon. They live in Washington, DC, where Shana serves as Associate Minister at All Souls Church, Unitarian, and Melora (on ‘extended sabbatical’ from parish ministry) serves as stay-at-home mom to their 3 year old daughter. |
February 21 Nathan Everett |
And if We Fail… We have all heard the aphorism “Failure is not an option.” But banking, healthcare, education, business, employment, and the war on terror are all areas where failure is not only an option; it might even be a likelihood. What is at risk? What is the outcome if we fail? The answer may be nearer to you than you think. |
February 28 |
a TREE and a FOREST; the Covenantal Tension Our community is bound together by covenant. But some of us stand as a single tree and others see themselves as a part of a forest. Which do you see? How does our viewpoint affect our lives? |
Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is often a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for Religious Education in the chapel. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever makes you comfortable!
