Sunday Morning Services

Sunday Morning Summer Schedule
9:50am “Morning Songs” Join us for ten minutes of singing prior to the “regular” service. The words will be projected overhead and the songs will be singable by adults and kids — some old favorites, some new, led by our music director and members of the choir.
10:00am Sunday Service (See below for speakers & topics).
11:00pm “Coffee Time” We invite you to remain after the service for coffee and conversation.
11:15pm “Reverberations” If you’d like to share, have questions, need further explanation, etc.

Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is often a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for childcare in the chapel. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever makes you comfortable!

Rev. Marian Stewart

If I Had a Hammer

When Pete Seeger co–wrote the lyrics to If I Had a Hammer in 1949, the song was ahead of its time. Now it is an oldie goldie. What happens to prophetic messages as they age? Does wisdom need a “best if used by” date stamp?

Important congregation meeting follows the service.

Rev. Marian Stewart

The Poetry of Summer

“Said Mrs. Blake of the poet: I miss my husband’s company – he is so often in paradise. Of course! the path to heaven doesn’t lie down in flat miles. It’s in the imagination with which you perceive this world and the gestures with which you honor it.”
—Mary Oliver “The Swan”

Let us enter into the summer season with a sense of awe and reverence. Even the wildflowers in a jam jar are a blessing.

Northlake Men's Group

Perspectives on Fatherhood

Join us for a pancake breakfast cooked by the Men’s Group at 9:00am followed by worship at 9:00am as members of the Northlake Men’s Group share some of their perspectives on fatherhood.

Sarah Grant

If God had a sense of humor, what would make Her laugh?

Humor comes in many forms: puns, jokes, slapstick or physical comedy, sarcasm, and even the inappropriate laughter that sometimes bubbles up in the middle of classes, meetings… and church services. This Sunday, join Sarah Grant for her take on what might make the Almighty laugh, and see what makes YOU laugh, too!
