Sunday Morning Services

10:00am Children’s RE Children’s religious education programs (downstairs).
10:50am “Morning Songs” Join us for ten minutes of singing prior to the “regular” service. The words will be projected overhead and the songs will be singable by adults and kids — some old favorites, some new, led by our music director and members of the choir.
11:00am Sunday Service (See below for speakers & topics).
12:00pm “Coffee Time” We invite you to remain after the service for coffee and conversation.
12:15pm “Reverberations” If you’d like to share, have questions, need further explanation, etc.

Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is often a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for childcare downstairs. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever you are comfortable in!

Are Bailouts Tax Deductible

Wall Street is in trouble. The bastion of money making is becoming a taxpayer’s nightmare. The bailout will cost billions of dollars, and will affect everyone. The personal cost is high, and our common good is lost in the shuffle.

Town meeting follows service.

Divine Desire — Finding Our Collective JOY!

Julia McKay, MDiv., has a vision for ministry that is shaped by a life–long desire for living with meaning and depth, which she understands to be most successfully grounded in healthy, effective community. In these very complex and difficult times, the world cries out for religious experience that inspires an engagement with lifes mysteries and shapes a vision that invites us to be living embodied, responsible, and whole lives. In this service, Julia invites you to participate in learning to create the conditions in which we might live communal beauty, connection, and joy.

Julia McKay is a Ministerial Candidate with the Unitarian Universalist Association, and a graduate from Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, CA, May 2008. Julia is currently serving as part-time intern minister at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church. Julia has also had previous professional lives as a public school music educator, psychotherapist, and non–profit director.

Julia is most passionate about worship and creating sacred space using the arts. Some of our congregants met Julia over New Year’s at Seabeck where she was the Music Coordinator for the Winter Eliot Institute. She has produced a CD of original contemplative solo piano music called "Where the Light Shows Through".

That’s so Evil

There is good and there is evil in this world. Some say it is God’s problem and some say it is ours. Come explore some thoughts and ideas and stay for discussion after the service.

Politics (in) the Pulpit

We can debate issues, but not candidates. We can comment on political events, but not on politicians. Or can we? Some churches are challenging the rules. What's at stake? Does it really matter?
