Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is usually a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for their classes downstairs. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing!
Unless otherwise noted, all services and children’s religious education programs take place on Sundays between 10:30am and 11:45am. Child care is available.
We invite you to remain after the service for coffee and conversation.
Past month’s services can be found here.
2 March Rabbi Glickman |
Forgiveness — an Overrated Word The Jewish people believe that in order to seek forgiveness you must first seek reconciliation, righting the wrong you committed. Rabbi Mark Glickman will compare the act of forgiveness and the act of atonement. After graduating cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis, Rabbi Mark Glickman went on to receive his Rabbinical Ordination from Hebrew Union College. In 1997, he moved out to Washington, where he became Rabbi of Temple Beth El in Tacoma, a post he held for seven years. He has been the Rabbi of Congregation Kol Shalom on Bainbridge Island since 2004 and recently, he also took on a similar position with Congregation Kol Ami in Woodinville. Please join us in welcoming Rabbi Glickman to this Sunday's pulpit. |
9 March Lena Breen Remember to set your clocks ahead by one hour! |
Short Time Here, Long Time Gone The ancient text, 1 Corinthians 13, says: “Now faith, hope, love abide, these three, and the greatest of these is love.” I, however, believe it is hope. Endless possibility abounds when we are able to engage the world with heart, practice courage, and trust one’s encounter with beloved divinity. We can do all this in our UU community. Lena was Director of the Department of Religious Education for the UUA from 1998 to 2002. She also served as interim minister of religious education at Vancouver, BC, and minister of the Skagit UU Fellowship before starting the Mount Vernon Yoga Center in 2005. She has lived in Mt. Vernon since 2002. |

He has promised to spearhead a campaign to pass an assisted dying law in Washington state, similar to Oregon’s Death with Dignity law, and hopes to have an initiative appear on the 2008 statewide ballot in Washington.
