Unitarian Universalist Association
 Home

Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is usually a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for their classes downstairs. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing!

Unless otherwise noted all services and children’s religious education programs take place on Sundays between 10:30 AM and 11:45 AM. Child care is available.

We invite you to remain after the service for coffee and conversation.

The Department of Peace

“Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous,” wrote G.B. Shaw. Are the citizens of this country up to the arduous task of creating and supporting a cabinet-level U.S. Department of Peace? And if so, what would this mean to our national identity? We will explore this idea, as well as some of the strong resistance it stirs up.

Association Sunday

We will be joining thousands of Unitarian Universalists in affirming our common bonds and purposes on the first annual Association Sunday.

Our liberal faith is needed to help heal our wounded world, and now is the time to pool our resources and let people know who we are and how to find us. Funds raised by this Sunday’s collection will be distributed by the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Half of the money raised on this special Sunday will go to new national marketing efforts; one quarter will be directed to resources supporting our ministers and seminarians of color and the congregations who call them; and the final portion of funds will come right back to our district for grants in support of individual congregations’ growth and outreach projects.

Come join us, ready to give generously to help grow our faith, because we are better together!

Faith

What is faith? Is it just a list of beliefs or principles that we subscribe to? Why is it that evangelical Christians, fundamentalist Moslems, and Orthodox Jews can all talk about Faith as if it is their exclusive corner on religion, but we feel unable to express our faith, or are embarrassed to claim it? If you are ready to meet your faith, claim it, and act on it, Sunday’s sermon titled simply "Faith" is for you. This is part one of a three-part series "Faith, Hope, and Charity," by Nathan Everett.

Rev. Amanda Aikman

Liberation

Liberation is costly, as both the Egyptians and the Hebrews found. What does liberation mean to us, and to the millions oppressed by war, poverty, tyranny and terrorism? What are we willing to give up in order to experience emotional and spiritual liberation? (This is the second of four sermons based on the Book of Exodus.)

Newcomer Orientation Luncheon after service.
