Unitarian Universalist Association
 Home

Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is usually a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for their classes downstairs. You are welcome to visit and to explore with us. Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing!

Unless otherwise noted all services and children’s religious education programs take place on Sundays between 10:30am and 11:45am. Child care is available.

We invite you to remain after the service for coffee and conversation.

Join us at 10:20 for 10 minutes of singing before the “regular” worship service begins at 10:30. Songs will singable by adults and kids, some old favorites you know, some new ones. Words will be projected on the chancel wall, so no noses need be stuck in books. Accompaniment will be provided by our most excellent pianist, David Servias, and led by members of the congregation who can carry a tune and are not bashful about singing into a microphone.

Past month’s services can be found here.

The Spirituality of Happiness

What does the wisdom of the world’s religions have to offer on this huge question of how to be happy? Is happiness, in the long run, all that important? Amanda offers some simple “happiness reminders” that we can use to bring us back to the state of happiness.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast 9:30am
The Membership Committee invites you to come early to church on Sunday and have breakfast on us! We'd like to thank you for all you do for our beloved community. Ever pulled a weed, swung a hammer, provided hospitality, ushered, given a sermon, taught a Religious Education class, hosted a potluck, or served on a committee? We also want to include the people who quietly do things for Northlake that may go unnoticed. Come enjoy food and fellowship and celebrate with us as we honor all of you — Northlake's volunteers.

Choir Concert

The Northlake choir will present a program of American music. This will include an early American shape note piece, spirituals and folk song arrangements, a couple of Cole Porter tunes and modern contemporary work by the young American composer, Eric Whittaker.

Choir of Heroes

We are connected with one another in our community of faith. We are connected, also, backwards through time, with our earliest theological ancestors. Join our children, youth and young adults as we honor courageous and principled people who have risked and sacrificed in the face of adversity for sacred ideals and human dignity. We will participate together in Flower Communion, one of the very few distinctive Unitarian Universalist rituals.

Please bring a single blossoming flower to be placed on the Chancel for this festive and meaningful ceremony.

Oh, Just Relax!

Summertime – time to look at the concept of taking a real Sabbath. How do we go “from 60 to zero”? What are the obstacles and aids, practical and spiritual, to letting go and truly enjoying our precious moments of leisure?
