Unitarian Universalist services are similar to most other churches. There are readings and hymns, often live instrumental or choral music. There is a time for people to share significant events in their lives. There is usually a story for children early in the service, before they leave the sanctuary for their classes downstairs.  You are welcome to visit and to explore with us.

Unless otherwise noted all services and children's religious education programs occur on Sunday at 10:30am.  Child care is available.

Starting Sunday October 8 through the end of November we're going to try something new at Northlake. Join us at 10:20 for "Morning Songs," 10 minutes of singing prior to the “regular” service which begins at 10:30. Songs will singable by adults and kids — some old favorites you know some new ones, led and taught by members of the congregation. And we'll be following the advice of Pete Seeger, quoted in the Dallas Morning News, June 2005 in answer to the question “Other than performing, what message did you have for the Unitarian Universalist convention in Fort Worth?”

8 October Warren Jessop	America , Facism and God The F-word.  Cheap name-calling? Or an accurate way to describe the style of governing into which America has slid?  Rev. Davidson Loehr, minister of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin, Texas, has written a book called America , Facism and God, in which he makes a case for the latter.  We will examine this issue and its religious implications.
15 October Rev. Amanda Aikman	Ruth’s Story  Ruth is a contemporary Unitarian Universalist from New England who was converted from a background of atheism to liberal Christianity, in a rather dramatic and humorous fashion.  This short play, based on Ruth’s own words, was written by Amanda Aikman and will be performed by a cast from the Whidbey Island congregation.
22 October Carl Schwartz	The End is Near We hear a lot about possible “end times” from some fundamentalist religious groups, scenarios which most religious liberals tend to dismiss.  There are, however, actual potential threats to our world, “inconvenient truths”, to borrow a phrase from Al Gore’s movie.  Let’s take a look at some of these potential threats and consider what we can do to meet them.
29 October  Rev. Amanda Aikman Remember Time Change!	Control-Z  Regret is hard to handle.  Sometimes we wish we had a “Control-Z” button to push to erase our rash action, unkind words or thoughtless decisions.  But the recent book “Success Through Failure” teaches us that all of our successful technology came about precisely because of failures.  Let’s see how this might apply to our own personal and corporate lives.  Special attention will be given to Zinedine Zidane’s infamous head-butt at the World Cup championship game.
