What Does a UU Need With Faith? Many people come to a UU church looking for a sense of community and not much more. But many of us also feel a need to have faith in something bigger than ourselves. This "faith" doesn't necessarily imply a belief in a god, by the way. But it does mean believing in something - a set of ideals or principles, for example. Today we'll talk about the idea of faith from the point of view of why faith might be a good thing to have, especially in these trying times. |
| 18 July Margaret Starbird |
Mary Magdalene; Reclaiming the Sacred Feminine in
Christianity
Was Mary Magdalene the wife and Beloved of Jesus? What became of her after the Crucifixion of Christ? Why was her story suppressed by the Church Fathers and why must we now retrieve it? Come explore legends and mythology of the Sacred Union once at the very heart of the Christian faith! Margaret Starbird's work helps to correct the tragic "design flaw" in Christian doctrine-the loss of the Sacred Feminine-that has become painfully obviousat the threshold of the third millennium. |

The Tao of Dumb
It's inevitable. We can't all be at the top of our game all of the time. There are times - there are circumstances in our lives, when we mess up, when we miss the point, when we're not on the right page . . . OK . . when we're just plain dumb. It's really a pretty significant element of the Human Experience, isn't it? There's gotta be some ground for spiritual exploration here, right? Come find out. |
