Outdoorsy UU Church Hikers (OUUCH!)

Seward Park Hike

A new and wonderful group is starting at Northlake; think of it as an “outing club.” We’ll start with day hikes, perhaps moving to camping trips that include day hikes from a base camp, then adding backpacking if the spirit moves us. All experience levels are welcome. Let us know if you have a favorite easy to medium day hike within two hours of Kirkland.

March 1st, 2008

Let's go see Twin Lakes in Snoqualmie Pass on Saturday!!! It is a four mile round trip with only 400 feet of elevation gain, rated Easiest in the Mountaineers' Snowshoe Hikes book.

Meet at the Issaquah REI at 10 am on Saturday. If you are renting snowshoes, please plan to obtain them before 10 am, the store opens at 9 am. Bring a lunch (a thermos of hot food is particularly enjoyable on such outings). Dress in layers. Bring a daypack to stow those extra layers.

We will carpool from REI, minimizing the purchase of SnoPark passes.

What you need:

  • warm waterproof boots
  • pants that resist snow (not jeans)
  • jacket and hat and mittens that are warm but breathe — snowshoeing is a workout
  • daypack in which to put the layers that you are not using

Put it on your calendar… Cyndy

Get out and get moving!
