Northlake Endowment Fund
Shall Northlake UUC establish an Endowment Fund?
As part of Northlake UUC’s 50th Anniversary activities, it is suggested an Endowment Fund be established. Wess Wessling and Steve Rosen have formed an Endowment Team to coordinate an inquiry, expecting a positive response, with, perhaps, an answer this fall.

- What should the relationships be between the Endowment Committee, the Board of Trustees, the Treasurer and other church committees and officials?
- How should (should?) the principal of the Fund be protected?
- How much of the Fund’s income might be spent when?
- Should the Fund’s income be used for special projects, operating expenses, capital investments, or some combination of these? Who decides?
- How should the Fund resolution be amended?
- In the event of the demise of Northlake UUC, how should the Fund be passed on?

A DRAFT resolution, amending our bylaws, provides for an Endowment Fund. It sets forth a governance plan with a distributions policy and provides for amendments and disposition. It has been prepared based on sample documents provided in UUA literature.
