The crew is not only renovating a graceful 1938 prewar chapel and building bright, sunny classrooms for RE, they are transforming the Northlake campus into people-friendly, wildlife-friendly gardens and walkways and terraces and patios.

There will be a finished playground. There will be paved and lighted parking. There will be a whole lot less mud and a great deal more accessible landscape for scheduling small meetings out of doors, for snapping wedding and fortieth anniversary photos, for picnicking, or for just sitting and reading a book. There will be space for a preschool, a children’s Sunday service, and a children’s garden, adults welcome!

Hooray for Northlake and what this community is accomplishing in its little corner of the world! Salvaging a building, using recycled materials to renovate it, planting native self–maintaining species, pulling together and relying on the diverse skills and talents of members and friends…
