Introduction

The Northlake Chapel is a charming 1938 historical building that is available to the general public for community events. We have hosted numerous weddings, musical events, adult education classes and theater productions since the chapel was renovated and reopened in January 2009. Details on renting the Chapel can be found at the Northlake Wedding web pages.

The Chapel is one of only two pre-WWII churches that remain in Kirkland. See the Chapel History section for more details surrounding the evolution of this building, including two physical location moves.

When Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church agreed to renovate the Chapel, the congregation placed importance on reducing environmental impact and providing a comfortable, healthy place for school children and community gatherings. Check out the Built Green section for areas where we applied sustainable building practices.

About the Chapel

On October 12, 2006, Green’s Chapel was moved across 4th Street to become part of the Northlake Unitarian landscape. The chapel was renamed “Northlake Chapel” to better identify with our congregation. This web section is intended to give the community an idea on the status of the construction project as well as the history of this special building.

Similar to our main building, we will open the chapel to the community as a place of celebration, education and spiritual growth. We already have a number of organizations interested in leasing space, including a non–profit school and Studio East. We hope to complete the project by June 2008.
